What We Do
Course Exams (MS1 - MS2)
Exam support for students in their first and second years of medical school.
USMLE Step 1
A one-day examination with 280 multiple-choice questions that assess whether a student understands and can apply important scientific concepts to the practice of medicine. USMLE Step 1 puts special emphasis on principles and mechanisms underlying disease, health, and modes of therapy.
USMLE Step 2CK
A one-day examination with up to 318 multiple-choice questions that tests a student's understanding and application of the clinical sciences to the practice of medicine. USMLE Step 2 CK puts special emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention.
NBME Shelf Exams
In addition to the Basic Science subject exams, the NBME contains clinical science subject exams for Surgery, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, OB-GYN and many others.
The USMLE (United States Medical Licensing Examination) comprises four exams (Step 1, Step 2CS, Step 2CK, Step 3) and all four exams must be passed to practice medicine as a doctor in the United States or Canada.
Board Certifying Exams
Board Certification is an extra step that many doctors choose to take to demonstrate that they know the latest advancements in their specialty.
The National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) exams represent the final step before obtaining licensure to begin working as a nurse in the United States or Canada.
The Physician Assistant National Recertifying Exam (PANRE), is a multiple choice test taken during the 5th or 6th year of certification. Physician Assistants seeking certification can take the exam a total of four times – twice during the 5th year and twice again in the 6th
The LAS Difference
We believe that the first step towards Undergraduate Medical Education test prep or test remediation is to listen and understand each medical student’s unique needs and opportunities for growth. LAS Undergraduate Medical Education Test Prep and Test Remediation services begin with an initial consultation, which consists of an initial intake meeting (in-person or via videoconference), a review of LAS forms and the student’s private documentation (reports, transcripts, standardized testing reports, etc.). Through our initial consultation, we receive a true assessment of where students are at in their undergraduate medical education journey. Our initial consultation gives our intake coordinators a deeper understanding of the testing sections that require the most improvement and attention. From there, we’re able to design a customized test prep or test remediation strategy that highlights those specific areas and the steps that will need to be taken to improve the overall test score.
Following an initial consultation, students will take a pre-test of their specified exam to determine strengths, weaknesses, and where there are opportunities for improvement. This allows us to incorporate error analyses and progress tracking, which is the foundation of LAS’ test prep methodology.
At this point, medical students seeking test prep and test remediation support will decide whether they’d like to participate in a Hybrid Workshop, Crash Course, or have One-to-One Meetings with a Medical Coach. All clients will receive an individualized test prep or test remediation curriculum that reflects each individual’s strengths while identifying key areas for targeted content review. All test prep services are available year-round, in-person or virtually, and sync up with national test dates.
NBME Shelf Exam Prep: Excellent service, has certainly offered insight into my problems and specifics on how to tackle them. I'm glad your services are available to us at [our] medical school.
Thanks so much to my study coach, he has helped me in more ways than I can count.
USMLE Step 2CK Prep: LAS was very helpful during my preparation for Step 2CK. I learned how to organize my time and how to prioritize subjects. After learning these skills studying became easier and less daunting. Not only did my scores go up, but I also felt more confident and prepared on my clinical rotations.
Test prep is the act of preparing for an exam. Test Remediation is a strategy used for improving test scores once the exam has been taken. Oftentimes, there are patterns within our test taking abilities and the presence of vulnerability in one area may indicate weakness in process or development practices in other locations on an exam. Through Test Remediation, we’re able to pinpoint those key areas for improvement and ensure that the same patterns don’t show up in other sections.
It’s dependent on the exam and the student! Give us a call and we’ll talk through pricing and work with you to determine the right fit for your budget.
While every student is different, on average, students who work with us can expect to see between a 2-5* point increase on their test score.
