Bridging the Gap (Year) Career Coaching
Medical Education
The primary goal of LAS Test Prep and Test Remediation is to ensure that students and early career physicians learn how to learn and effectively demonstrate their knowledge on standardized tests.
To ensure this process, LAS Medical Coaches provide structure, support, and accountability during weekly medical coaching sessions. LAS Medical Coaches are trained and highly skilled in the LAS Test Prep Method, an evidence-based approach to learning and test-taking.
LAS Medical Coaching provides integrative academic support that deepens content knowledge and enhances process skills. Based on 30 years of coaching experience in medical education, LAS metrics demonstrate a proven track record.
The LAS Medical Coaching Model integrates an individual education plan with measurable outcomes for every client. The LAS Coaching Model is evidence-based and process-oriented. While solution-focused, it emphasizes learning how to learn and achieve in measurable, adaptive, and sustainable ways.
LAS provides coaching services to students and early career physicians when they are placed on a Professional Improvement Plan (PIP) or Remediation Plan.
LAS Medical Coaching supports students and early career physicians who struggle to integrate professional competencies and observable behaviors of increasing ability in medical education. When applicable, this support involves meeting with the student or early career physician in difficulty and the referring Dean or Program Director.
During the initial consultation process, LAS Coaches collaborate with students and residents to clarify areas of strength and difficulty, including those defined by the Core Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) from AAMC or the Core Competencies detailed in the ACGME Milestones Guidebook.
Following the initial meeting(s), LAS designs an individual plan to address defined areas of difficulty. These plans include goals to learn how to critically evaluate and self-assess one’s abilities, and take an active and professional approach to feedback and assessments.
