The LAS Difference

  • 01

    Initial Consultation

We believe that the first step towards Graduate Medical Education test prep or test remediation is to listen and understand each medical student’s unique needs and opportunities for growth. LAS Graduate Medical Education Test Prep and Test Remediation services begin with an initial consultation, which consists of an initial intake meeting (in-person or via videoconference), a review of LAS forms and the student’s private documentation (reports, transcripts, standardized testing reports, etc.). Through our initial consultation, we receive a true assessment of where students are at in their Graduate medical education journey.  Our initial consultation gives our intake coordinators a deeper understanding of the testing sections that require the most improvement and attention. From there, we’re able to design a customized test prep or test remediation strategy that highlights those specific areas and the steps that will need to be taken to improve the overall test score.

  • 02

    Pre-Testing

Following an initial consultation, students will take a pre-test of their specified exam to determine strengths, weaknesses, and where there are opportunities for improvement. This allows us to incorporate error analyses and progress tracking, which is the foundation of LAS’ test prep methodology.

    Test Prep

At this point, medical students seeking test prep and test remediation support will decide whether they’d like to participate in a Hybrid Workshop, Crash Course, or have One-to-One Meetings with a Medical Coach. All clients will receive an individualized test prep or test remediation curriculum that reflects each individual’s strengths while identifying key areas for targeted content review. All test prep services are available year-round, in-person or virtually, and sync up with national test dates.

FAQs

Test prep is the act of preparing for an exam. Test Remediation is a strategy used for improving test scores once the exam has been taken. Oftentimes, there are patterns within our test taking abilities and the presence of vulnerability in one area may indicate weakness in process or development practices in other locations on an exam. Through Test Remediation, we’re able to pinpoint those key areas for improvement and ensure that the same patterns don’t show up in other sections.
